"Amateur Gentleman" Adapted from Jeffory Farnol's . bestselling novel of the same name, "The Amateur Gentleman," ehowing at the Waipukurau Theatre to-night at 8 and to*morrow at 2.30 and 8, is, without hesitation, the best produced and most thrilling and colourful costume drama ever eoreened. Doug. Fairbanks, jun., has not allowed his cares as a producer to Weigib him down, and in scoring a personal triutnph he reveals a Virile pereonality ttrongly reminiscent of his famous father. The pieture is packed with acj tion from start to finish. On© of the highlights is the realiatic knuckle fight between Barnabas and the "Lincoln Butcher." The romantif scenes between Fairbanks and Elissa Landi are masterpi^ces of restraint. Gordon Harker's Natty Bell is a perfect gem of cockney characterisations and is about the best performance he has ever given, Esme Perfiy stands out in a rathe* emaller part than usu&l as a "fop." Prominent ajnong the rest of the cast are Frank Pettingell, Basil Sydney, Athole Stewart and ETugh Williams. The photography is flawless and Thornton Freeland, who directed, has kept the pace going right up to the fadoout. The supporting progiramme inoludes a coloured cartoou "Oock of the Walk."
