i GBEYMOUTH, Last Night. Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Mines, completed a tour of the Inangahua quartz field, expressing hope that further lodes would be revealed by the present prospecting efforta. To-day visiting the State coal area he discussed with the Miners ' Union the terms of the new agreement and subsequently stated ,that the main matters were referred to the National Coal Conference on February 25th, local points being held over for settlement thoreafter. Mr Webb at a public reception referred to the coal trade improvement and the increased use of Dominion coal by gas companies. He asked big users to liberate every possible ton in the winter and build a stock up in the summer. No Government could allow stocks to become depleted if there was a possibility of a hold-up in the industry. From 95 per cent. of the unionists he had heard ,no complaints except at Runanga. •Everywhere else he received full co- ; operation and oxpected it from here.
