One-Day Meeting TO-MORROW'S PROSPECTS

The one-day midsummer meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club will be held at Riccarton to-morrow, when the most important events to be contested are the Middle Park Plate and Mid summer Handicap. The former event, for two and three-year-olds, has drawn a field of nine runners, three of which, Paper Slipper, Mob Rule and Lazy- , bones, haii from the successful train ing establishment ot H. and A. Cutts. , Paper Slipper and Mob Rule will Le » bracketed, but Lazybones, being of different ownership, will be a unit on j his own. This event, like many of the ' past, will be a racing attraction. Royal Chief, who defeated Francis Drake in the Great Northern Foal Stakes at , Ellerslie last Boxing Day, adds great interest to the Middle Park »'late. The Mijs iumer Handicap has attracted eorne ct ihe best So^to lelami j handicap horses, .and in view of the j approaching Dunedin Cup, the running | of Argentic, Queen of Song, Davolo, Tunneiler and Viritage (now down in the weights) will be eagerly watched. The minor events have filled better ^han usual, and they, too, should furnish contests abcve the average. Speculation may be brisk on the following contestants : —
