WOMEN'S INSTITUTE — OHURAKURA-TE POIIUE

The Ohurukura — Te Pohue Women's Institute held their fourth birthday at "Ealapd" as the guests of Mrs Dampney, the verandah and lawns being beautifully decorated with ferns and balloans. On arrival the members wero served with ice-cream and cool drinks which were greatly appreciated by all. Competitions were won by Mrs Lo Compe, Miss V. Johnson, Mrs Julian and Mrs W. King. Outdoor games wero enjoyed by all and won by Mrs Fairburn and other results wero: Treasure liunt, Mrs Elliott; cahin stepping, Miss - P. Howell; three legged race, Mxss Howell and Miss McRobbie. The beautiful birthday cake, made by Mrs Hankin and iced by Mrs Elliott stood in the centro of the afternoon tea table, tea being served by Mrs Dainpney, Mrs N. Smith, and Miss Dampney. Tfye points prizes tor the last six months were presented by Mrs Elliott. Mrs Hankih gaining Mrs Dampney' s Cup for first place with Mrs J. Palmer 2, and Mrs Atkins 3; In the juniors Miss Adsell was first for twelve months and gained Mrs B. Palmer's Cup. Miss McConaohv was second and Miss McRobbie third. Before the members departed Mrs •Dampney was hoartily thanked for the lovely afternoon.
