91ST. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED BY MRS REGINALD FOSTER

A resident of New Zealand for nearly 73 years, a much loved aild greatly esteemed danghter of sturdy pioneera, Mrs Eeginald Foster, of 82 Wairarapa terrace, Fendalton Christchurch celebrated her ninety-first birthday laat week. Mrs Foster was born in Cardiff, Wales, and came to New Zealand with ner parents, Mr and Mts John Grierson, in the ship British Empire, aTriving in 1864. The family lived for a time in Oxford terrace, next to St, Michael's Chnrch, in -a house that had for a timo previously, been Christ's . College. Grierson was married to Mr Reginald Foster, in St. Miehael's Church, the Rev. Dean Jacobs conducting the service. After the ceremony the bride and bridegroom drove to their new aome at Avoca in their buggy, drawn by a pair of horses. After a few years Mr and Mrs Foster moved to Craigieburn and later to Amberley, where Mr Foster held the position of inspeotor of sheep. He died some years ago. Mts Foster has four daughtera and two sons — Mrs P. J.' Overton, (Fendalton), Mrs Percy Wood (Marton), Mrs Frank Gould (Te Kuiti), Mrs Hiley Roberts (Rewa Rewa), Mr Nelson Foster (Hastings), and Mr Trevor Foster (Christchureh),
