Jurisdiction of The H.B. Labourers' Union LAUGHS GREET PROTEST Laughter f roai the Council of Conciliation in the closing stages of its session yesterday afternoon greeted a protest by Mr Peter Butler, on behalf of.the Wellington Labourers' and Related Trades Industrial Union of Workers, against the proceedings, whieh have resulted in complete agreement on an award for local-body eorployces in the Hawke 's Bay provineial district. _Mr Butler contended in a telegram that the Hawke 's Bay Labourers' Union had 110 judisdiction in regard to local bodies, but members of the council considcr that there is not one chance in a thousand of the agreemeixt being upset. Late yesterday afternoon the eounCil, Under the Coneiliation Coxiimissione?, Mr M. J. Reardon, had reaehed a com plete agre.ement in the proceedings be* tween the Hawke' s Bay Labourers' Hnioii and the Hawke 's Bay local bodies. The coaxmissioner received aud read 'the following urgent telegram from Wellington:— " Hawke 's Bay local bodies' iaboUrers' dispute, Hawke 's Bay Labourers' Clxxipn no jurisdiction in regard to local bodies. The fules of the Hawke 's Bay Labourers' Union do 'not cdver local bodies' labourers. Protest* against proceedings. Ps Butler, seeretary Wellington Labourers' and Related Trades Industrial Union of Workers." At the COnclusion of the reading, hearty laughter resounded from both •sides of the table.. '
