(Received 1, 8.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 31. The A.J.C. anniversary meeting opened ata Randwiek to-day in warm weather. The following were the chief rsuts : — 4 i CHALLENGE STAKES. Of £800; 6 furldngs. SILVER ROSE. -7.2 (O. Sullivan) .. 1 King's Head, 9,7 (aBrtle) 2 Falstaff, 8.4 (Heather) 3 Fourteen started. Country Party was scratehed. There was a thrilling finish. Won by a short neek, third baek half a fength. Goorka was fourth, Gay londe ninth and Hadrian last. Time, 1.114; JANUARY HANDICAP. Of £500; 1| miles. FIREMAN. 7.1 (Hankey) 1 Autoland, 7.3 (A. Knox) 2 Mahamji (N.Z.-bred), . 8.1 (McCur* tin) 3 Ten started, includingg Lutharna (N.Z.) Won by a*head, third back half a length. Time, 2.3 J. Lord Willonyx was unplaced in the Trial Hurdles. ' v Treasure Trove was second in the first division' of the Noviee Handicap which was won by Nordent. Inver and eBngal Lancer were unplaced in the Bondi . Handicap, which was won by Lord Bine. Normanby, ' Glenora Boy, Dream Song and The Chief were unplaced in the Widden Handicap, which was won by Caesar, owned by Sir Colin Stephen, chairman of the Australian Jockey Club. On Parade was third in the Paddington Handicap.
