Waipukurau Court Fines Man Who "Cut" a Corner

WAIPUKURAU, This day. Charged with driving a truck on the Waipawa-Makaretu road in such a manner as to be dangerous, James Vietor Low.es, , Ashley Clinton,, pleaded guilty in the Waipukurau Magistrate's Court yesterday. He was also charged with failing to keep as far as practicable to the left of ,the centre of the road, and pleaded guilty to this charge as well. Lowes was convieted and discharged on the first charge and fined £2, 10/and costs 18/11 on the second. / Constable P. Mullan gave evidence that the accident oceurred on a corner where it was customary for traffie to eut across when turning. Lowes had followed the usual practice and had eut the corner as he^ turned.
