The total number of returned soldiers who will make up the contingent is 10, exclusive of those serving in the te-rri-fcorial forees or the New Zealand Permanent Staff, &o. that if the response ui other towns is airytliing like that'in Napier the task of seleetion will be far fram easy. Thomson, secretary vi the Hastings Returned Soldiers' Association, told the "Herald-Tribur.e, ' this afternoon that he considered Hawke's liay would be very lucky if it got cne representative for the -whole province, considering thut there were to be only LO for the whole Doimnion. There was still time for further applications to be made, however, as they did not elose until Febr-iary 16, and three other forms had been taken beside the oue returned.
