CHRISTCHURCH, Last Niglit, The Health Department has decided that only pasteurised milk will be used in the scheme which is being organised for the dTstribution of milk to school children. The milk must be supplied in bottles, or in some other form of container. The cost of the scheme will be borne by the department, and contracts will be let for the supply of milk in each eehtre. Mr W. A. Cowell, of the Health Department, has been appointed to organise the scheme. His mission is tn obtain information relative to the requirements of the schools in each district and to explain the objects of the scheme, preparatory to tlie t'ormation of a local committee in each centre for administration purposes. He is now visiting the South Island. The proposal has been favourably reeeived in tbe eities, and when arrangements have bepn completed tlio organisation work will be extended to the smaller towns and country districts. It is hoped to have the scheme ready for operation in tim§ for the winter.
