MID-WEEK CRICKET
West End Defeats Methodist The Hastings Cricket sub-Associa-tion's mid-week competition was continued at Nelson Park yesterday. Methodist played West End and Heretaunga met United, the games being one-day mateh'es. West End won by 40 runs on the first innings, while United and Heretaunga drew. In their first innings, West End compiled 96 (Wilcox 28, Taylor 18, Wallis II, Ladbrook 10 not out; Wilkins eiglit for 31). . • Methodist replied with 56, only two batsmen scoring double figures (Gosnell 12, Younge 14; Rosenburg six for 22, Martin four for 23). West End made 118 in their seeond' knock (Wilcox 20, Milne 41, McDonald 26, Orr 26; Wilkins four for 64, Ball three for 16),- and Methodist had lost two wickets for 52 at the close of play (Sadler 19 not out, ahd Gosnell 20 not out). United compiled 226 in their innings (Mahoney 53, Swallon 23, Shattliy 28, Brimmer 30, Fowler 41, O'Neill 17; Rouse four for 96, Shuker three for 37, YVaymouth two for 47). Heretaunga replied with 102, six wickets having.fallen when stumps were drawn (Rouse 30, Giorgi 47 not out; Swallon three for 29, Fowler two for 4). "
