Mr Walter Heap
There passed away rocently at the Napier Public Hospital, after a short ■ llness, Mr. W' alter Heap, of Gveoa.-.ue.-.dows, The late Mr. Heap, who was the only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. W: Heap, of Lancaster, England, . was born at Lancaster in 1875 and came out to New Zealand i'n January, 1902, after having been invalided home from the South African War. He resided in Carterton for some 16 } ears, where he followed the profession of a music teacher and where for some time he held the position of or* ganist to St. Mark's Angliean' Church. In January, 1916, he volunteered for home service and after a short period spent in the reeords office of Trentham niilitary camp, was transferred to the Featherston camp, where he remanu until the signing of the armistiee. On his return home he did valuable work during the epidemic of 1918. In the following year, acting on medical advice, he came to reside in Hawke's Bay, settling in Greenmeadow, where he followed his old profession and where he held the position o.f organist to All Saints' Angli.con Church, Taradale, for . some twelve years. Mr. Heapp is survived by hisj widuw and one .daughter, and also by his two sisters in England, Mi'ss K. Heap, of Sheffield, and Mrs. J. Herdson, of Milnthorpe.
