MAKOTUKU, Last Night. The monthly meeting of the Makotuku School Committee was held in the schoolroom last night, when there were present Messrs J. Palmer (chairman), M. Oarruthers and G. Hai'ding (hon. seeretary) . Correspondence included approval from the 'Hawke's Bay Education Board of the amount the committee had estimated to spend on ground improvements, It was resolved to obtain soil for the purpose of top-dressing the basketball grounds ; to engage a lori'y to carry it and to eng/nge men for filling lorry and spreading the soil. The cleaning and trenching of the school gardens is to be done on the same principle, viz., by local labour.
