Mr W. J. Drysdale

WAIROA, Jan. 26. Mr W. J, Drysdale passed away in his 70th year this morning. He was born in Palmerston South, and in his earlier years engaged in tbe carrying business in tbe South Island and later In the Wairoa district. Later he became licensee of the Marumaru Hotel and be carried on the business for a number of years. Mr Drysdale was keenly interested in racing, and at one time Lord' Muskerry carried his colours. He was a jovial, kindly man. His wife, a sister of Mr V. E. Winter, predeceased bim many years ago. He leaves a family of four sons and five daugbters — Messrs W. and H. Drysdale (Wairoa), G. Drysdale (Auckland) and Victor Drysdale (Wairoa), Mrs E. Arundel (Omahanui), Mrs D. Byford (Wairoa), Missea Zora and Margaret Drysdale (Wairoa) and Miss Esme ("Tommy") Drysdale (Gisborne)
