Woman Injured At Waiheke

AUCKLAND, Last Night. Severe burns to her neck, chest and arms were suffered by a widow, Mrs. Edith Rita Johnson, aged 33, of 14 Btanmore road, Grey Lynn, when a . spirit lainp exploded in the pantry d the Onetangi Hotel, Waiheke Islahd. The lamp was being lit by a visitor to the hotel when the accident occurred. Mrs. Johnson was engaged in preparations for tea and was near the table on which the lamp was standing. Owing to the direction of the draught ln the room she suffered the full force of the explosion. The injured woman was conveyed by bus a distance of four miles to Ostend and was taken on board a launch which immediately left for Auckland. A St. John am,bulance met the launch and the woman was taken to the Auckland Hospital. Her condition was reported to be not serious.
