Uniformed Biuejackets at Cabaret INCIDENT REPEATED

(By Teleeraph-

WELLINGTON, Jan. 26. Onee again sailors from the New Zealand flagship, H.M.S. Achilles, which arrived at Wellington yesterday, were last night refused entry to a city cabargt on account of their being in uniform. When the AehUles was in port last November, a number of seamen in tunics and bell-bottomed trousers were turned away from the door of the Majestic Cabaret, the manager, Mr F. Carr, explaining at the time that it was against the rule of the establishoxent to admit jack tars in uniform. A similar ineiden occurred last night, when several uniformed seamen were refused admission to the Majestic. "We were told tlxat it was our uniform that was objected to said one of the sailors afterward. He stated that ailhough a uniformed petty officer who was one of the party had been told that he could go in without his friends, the rest of them were flatly denied the right to entei- the cabaret. It was recalled'\that on the previous oecasion not only petty officers but also lower deck ratings in uniforms of other pattern were admitted freely. "We felt that after our last visit the people of Wellington would surely have done something about it by now," said one. "After all, it is an insult to the King's uniform. ' ' Members of the Majestic staffi admitted that the sailors had been refused enlry, but declined to make any statements for publication in the absence at Auckland of the manager. It was, however, pointed out that in default of any definite instructions they could only assume that the normal rule of the cabaret still held good.
