Pelorus Jack Wins for Third Successive Year

BLENHEIM, Jan, 22. The Masport Cup, for the 'annual New Zealand speedboat ehampionship, was decided at a regatta at Picton tnis afternoon. The event was won for the third year in succession by the Pelorus Jack, owned by Messrs, Buckman and Olsen, of Picton. A fairly stiff north north-westerly wind was blowing, but the course was in good order. Originally ttiere were four entries for the race, but unfortunately the Miss Ethel (Wanganui) could not arrive in time owing to the boat on whieh it was loaded being bar-bound. Other entries were the Otago Yacht and Motor Club's Miss Otago, and Mr. J. A. Perano's Tory Queen, Both the latter boats developed engine trouble, and the Miss Otago had to withdraw after the fourth lap. Details — Buckman and Olsen's Pelorus Jack 3 J. A.
