That was in the first Test ever played at Brisbane, in December, 1928, when Chapman declared England's second innings closed at 342 for eight, and left Australia with ,742 runs to win. Australia lost by 675 runs! The first declaration in EnglandAustralia contests was in the thirtysixth Test, at Lord's, in 1893.
