Waipukurau Fire Brigade's 25th Anniversary

WAIPUKURAU, Jan. 21. At the twenty-fifth anniversary celebrations of the founding of the Waipukurau Volunteer Fire Brigade on Tuesday evening, the following officers were re-elected: Foreman, A. S. Annand; Becretary, W. Chappell. Superintendent Ch^mbers' w.as elected treasurer, Mr. A C. Holmes honorary auditor, and Fireman Scherf was nominated for the executive. The thanks of the brigade were extended to all who contributed to the. jubilee funds through the competition. Mr. H. Rechin was thanked for a donation to this fund Votes of thanks wer© passed to the honorary auditor, Mr. W. A. Chambers, and to the secretary, Mr. W. Chappell Mr. A. Hasti was proposed as a new member to the brigade,/, and Fireinan Scherf was appointed delegate to the U.F.B.A. conference at Nelson in March. Foreman Annand was noihinated judge at the U.F.B.A. demonstration at the eonference. The annuaj report stated; "The roll call on January 1, 1936, was three officers and fourteen men. The brigade refceived four calls during th© year — one business ; prepiises, pne out-building, one sorub fire > and bne false alarm, One fire only, that in the business premises was serious. "A team took part .at the United District Fir© Brigades' Association' s demonstrafion at Hastings. Although lt was unsucceessful, valuabl© information was gained. "Fireman F. Watson resigned on May .. 26fh, through ill-health. The balance sheet shows receipts at £160 i/3, ©xpenditure £88 4/-, leaving a credit balance of £71 17/3. "Thanks are due to Mr. W. A. Chambers, ihe honorary auditor, for again auditing the brigade' s books."
