Ellsworth Vines won his tbird consecutive match against Fred Perry, 6—4, 2 — 6, 6 — 3, 5 — 7, 7 — 5, squaring the professional series, three all.Perry was tbe steudier throughout tbe "five sets, making 97 errors against Vines 'a 110, but tbe American piled up 59 -earned points against Perry 's 39, most of wbicb came from terrifie baekbanders wbicb went for -placements. Vines and Barnes defeated Perry •and Lott in tbe doubles, which ended in tbe eleventb*= game, wben a post broke. Tbe former team won tbe first aet 6 — 4 but were trailing love 1 in tbe second.
