Commissioner to Tour Dominion

WELLINGTON, Jan. 19. Eor tha purpose of testing the complete administration of tho pensions laws, the Minister of Pensions, the Hon. W. E. Parry, has arranged for the Commissioner of Pensions, Mr H. Digby Smith— who under the amendments made in the Act last session is given more extehsive powers than formerly — to make a comprehensive tour of the Dominion,. commencing on Tuesday next, J anuary 26, at Palmerston North. It is the intention of the eommissioner to inepect the local pensions office of each distfiet visited and to disctiss with persotts already in receipt of pensions or those who are applicants, any- matters they may wish to bfing bofore hiin. The Minister stated yesterday that the Governfeent was anxious to give all classes of pensioners and applicants a full opportunity of bringing personally before the chief officer of the department any point or grievance they might have eoncfirning their cases. The itinerary of the Commissioner of Pensions is as follows: — Palmerston North, Tuesday, January 26 j Wanganui, Wednesday, January 27; New Plymouth, Thursday, January 28, and Priday, January 29; Auckland, Mohday, FebruaTy 1 and Tuesday, February 2; Hamilton, Thursday, February 4; Thames, Friday, February 5; Waihi, Saturday, February 6; Rotorua, Monday, February 8; and Napier, Wednesday, February 10.
