COMMERCIAL EXAMS
Two Special Awards To Clifton College SHORTHAND RESULTS Tlxe results for the Chamber of Commerce examinations, held in Noyember, and for Pitman's shorthand examinations, held in December last, have now come to hand. Hastings, and Clifton Commercial College, have the distinction of securing two of the 12 special prize awards aiiocated by the Chamber of Commerce for the whole of the Oominion, the successful candidate in both cases being Miss Betty Reid, who was coached for both these examinations by Clifton College. Although only two-thirds of the total number of entrants for the Hastings Centre succeeded in passing the Chamber of Commerce examinations, 90 per cent of the students entered by Clifton College were successful. Pitman's shorthand examination was held under the supervision of Mr. John Bark, acting on behalf of Sir Isaao Pitman and Sons. The results are as folloW ; — Handwriting and Business Letter Writing; Pass with Distinction, Miss Betty Rejd (hrst in New Zealand), Senior Typewriting : Pass with Honours, Miss Betty Reid (second in New Zealand). Junior Typewriting: Pass with Diptinction, Miss Gytlia Howard (first in Hastings Centre). Pass with Distinction, .Miss Betty Norman, Miss Allison M. Shaw. Pass, Misses Della Fenton, Roma Goodwin, Gem Leti'ord, eBryl N, Mitchell, Stella B. Stringer, Joan Warwick. Pitman's Shorthand Examinations; llO'words per minute, MiBs Bery] Mitchell ; 110 words per minute, Miss Roma Goodwin; 100 words per minute, Miss ' Betty Norman ; 100 words per minute, Miss Maxwell* Gunn; 80 words per minute, Miss Eunice Roil ; 80 words per minute, Miss Hilda Bicltnell; 70 words per minute, Miss Elsie Foulds.
