DUNEDIN, Jan. 15. A curious coincidence occurred to-day when inquests were held on two men who had been admitted to hospital with self-inflicted wounds in the throat. It was revealed that in both instances death was due to another cause. ' Tbe first case7,was tbat of a widower aged 85, wbo was admitted on December 16 and died on Thursday. Tbe medical evidence sbowed tbat tbe man died from broncbial pneumonia wbile undergoing treatment for a self-inflicted wound wbich, in itself, was insufficient to cause death. In tbe second case tbe deceased was admitted on January 9 and died thia morning, tbe cause of death, according to the medical evidence, being coronary thrombosis. The throat wound was of a trivial nature and was only a contributing faetor.
