Succesful Event At Haumoana
HAUMOANA, Jan. 16. The Haumoana 's paddy's market held in the hall on Thursday was an outstanding suecess, althougk the inelement weather marred it to a certain cxtent. The proceeds, which will go lowards the extension fund, should benefit very considerably, as there was a surprisingly large crowd present. Praise is due to the ladies' committee, who had arrangements well in hand and wlio worked so liard to make tliis market the suecess it was. Mr *W. Tuckor officially opened the functiou. The winners of the various competitions were: — Doll, Airini Wairoa; sugar,, Mrs Wepa; cake, Mr C. AIcLean, Napier; Utdy nightgo-w^i, Mr Cockerill; lady's nightgown (white), Mrs H Joll; babv's knitted set, Mrs Burden; cllocolat.es, Aliss Hume; powder-bowl, D. Cushing. A dance foliowed in the evening. This was certainly an outstanding suecess, ^robably the most enjoyable dance held for soine considerable time. There was a very large crowd present. Kxcellent music was played by McKay's orchestra. The dance eoncluded well after midnight.
