WOMEN’S DIVISION
HAWERA BRANCH ASSEMBLY.
A social afternoon, under the auspices of the Hawera branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union w'as held in the farmers’ rooms on Thursday. There wrns quite a large attendance in spite of the inclemency or the weather. Mrs A. E. J>eath presided and the hostesses were Alesdames Vickeridge and Tocher and Miss Blake. , , A vote of thanks was accorded (Mi G Cruickshank for making a china cabinet for the use of the division ana thanks w'ere also extended to all who had helped by donating parts. Air W. Page, of Nolantown W'as thanked tor the lettering. . ’ . Airs Seed, of Matapu, has kind L made the cake for the conference and the icing was left to her discretion.. Airs Tocher delighted the gathering with two humorous recitations. An invitation was received from the Alton-Kakaramea branch to a birthday social and a number of members made arrangements to attend. During afternoon tea an informal discussion took place regarding arrangements for a combined social of the men’s and w'omen’s branches of the Farmers’ Union early in July. It was decided that the Hawera branch entertain the visiting members to the next executive meeting.
