DISPLAY OF BRITISH FILMS
PURCHASES ARRANGED. PLANS FOR. NEW ZEALAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 19. A development of considerable interest to the motion picture industry ■occurred during the recent visit to Australia by Mr Beaumont Smith, who arranged on behalf of certain, .wellknown exhibiting firms, .for the purchase of the bulk of the . British films available for exhibition in New Zealand. Tho entire output of the British Dominion films was .secured including the British Gaument Gainsborough, the British Lion, Twickenham Films and Sterling productions. In addition L be New Zealand exhibiting companies have contracts for London film productions and several other major British companies. Arrangements have been made for the exhibition of British films in the theatres controlled by the firms concerned in Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Wanganui. Palmerston North. Invercargill. Napier, Hastings. New Ply-mouth-and other centres. The new arrangement will commence within the next few weeks.
