AWATUNA

WOMEN’S DIVISION.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

There was a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Women’s Divisionl, Farmers’ Union, at Awatuna last Tuesday afternoon, wheel Mrs Bourko (presided. Sister Small gave an interesting address on first aid remedies, explaining the value of calcium lactate for chilblains ail'd picric acid for scalds and burns. Asthma and appendicitis and tonsil troubles wear also dealt with.

An interesting cheese dish competition' drew many entries’,; consisting of cheese custards, savouries and scones, etc. The three best entries in order were those of Mrs Niecolls (a plate of cheese pastry), Mrs Ooxh'ead (a plate of cheese sconos)., and Mrs Boyd (a plate of cheese savouries).' Mesdames Boyd, Corbett and Granville supervised afternoon tea.

PERSONAL

• Mr and Mrs D. Chubb, of Ngarawahia, are visiting friends at Awatuna. Miss Doreen Street, of Ngarawahia, is visiting friends at Awatuna. Mrs M. Bourke is visiting relatives in New Plymouth and attended the Charity Ball.

Mr and Mrs Hodges and family and Mr and Mrs Williams are leaving Awaf.una to take up farming at Te Puke on a> large .scale. They will be very much missed in the Awatuna. district, as they have given much help in various community efforts.

Miss Ruth Corbett is visiting tela fives at Okato and at Pungareku.
