WOMEN’S DIVISION SOCLAL.

EFFORT^FOR RED CROSS

The hall at Fraser Rond was packed last night on the occasion of a euchre party and dance, arranged by the local committee of the W.D.F.U. The proceeds will be shared by that committee and the Red Cross Society, to help the work in the Fraser Road district. No fewer than 120 people sat down at the euchre tables and this quite taxed to full the accommodation of the hall. Play was very keen, in a series of interesting contests the following won the prizes: Ladies, Mrs. V. Warner 1. Mrs. J. Thompson 2; men, Mr. G. Graham 1, Mr. W. M. Peacock 2 ’ Consolation prizes, Miss Mildenhall and Air. A. Sharp. Dancing followed, to music by Mrs. W. Bennett, Mr. A. Notman acting as M.C., and extras were played by Mrs. A. L. Campbell, Mr. Pikau Rangi and Air. W. Druce. A Alonte Carlo was won bv Airs. Smvth and Mr. W. Bennett.

A competition for a dressed turkey was won by Aliss E. Rve.

A large party of Red Cross workers, with Sister Small, the Red Cross Nurse, were present. U Members of the local branch of-the division are keenly interested Tn the lectures given every fortnight by Sister Small and are making excellent progress in the work of the Red Cross.

HALL EUCHRE PARTY.

The usual hall euchre party and dance was held last Friday, • and despite the wet weather there was a good attenance and a balance of profit lor the hall funds. The winners were Mrs. W. Bennett and Airs. L. B. Galbraith. Dancing followed, the music being played by Mrs. W. Bennett.
