MARKETING BOARD GRANTS
NEW ZEALAND SUBSIDIES
ALLEGATIONS OF NEGLECT
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 14. Allegations that the New Zealand Government, with other Governments of the Empire, has been accepting grants for research work from the Empire Marketing Board without fulfilling the conditions under which the grants were made were reported to the- committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association to-day by Professor R. E. :.]J Alexander. It as stated that the Government had accepted grants from -the board on condition that they be subsidised in New Zealand, and the Government had failed properly to fulfil this- condition.
The meeting carried the following resolution : “That the Government be asked to u-se every .effort to retain the grants from the Eimpire Marketing Board by subsidising the amounts spent in the Dominion on- agricultural research according to the. conditions laid down bv the board.”
