SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETS
EXTRA TEIACHERI REQUESTED
At the monthly meeting of the Auroa School Committee there were present Mr A. C. Langlands (chairman), Mrs Benton and Messrs H. R. Wood, King, Brown, Davison and Blair and the headmaster (Mr Fail-brother). The headmaster’s monthly report disclosed 1 a, roll number of 125 pupils, seven of whom had. been admitted during the month. The Education Board’s,carpenters had effected a number of repairs during, the month and Mr Blair had visited 1 the School grounds and noted work to be don'e. Cocoa, was 110-w served daily to the children during the Innicth hoiuir. Sister Small paid a visit for medical inspection. Messrs R. Syme and Haynes judged the pupils’ carrot and mangold crops.
The basketball team was conveyed to Manaia by Mr Engelberger and the headmaster for a match.
Mr Fairbrothor reported! that the organisation of the school was now a verv difficult matter, with 125 on the roll and only three teachers. The classes and number of pupils were: Primers. 21: S;td. 1., 24;'Std. 11., 17; St.d. nr., 12; StdL TV., 15; form 1., 10: form IT., 14; form 111., 3. The junior room was overcrowded.
The committee decided to apply to the board for a probationer. PERSONAL.
Mrs King is the guest of Mr and Mrs H. O. Sampson, Hillsborough.
