DAIRY FACTORY REGULATION

INSPECTION QF BOILERS

PROTEST TO FEDERATION

New regulations requiring the taking down of brick-work around dairy factory boilers for the purpose of inspection by the inspector of machinery were the subject of a protest made by Mr W. Taylor, president off the Taranaki Factory Managers’ Association, to a meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Federation of Diairy Companies at Stratford last migllut. Mr Taylor said he was expressing the opinion of the Managers’ Associa.tion. What the managers were thinking of was not their own convenience hut of the possible damage to the brickwork if it had to he removed so often to allow the rivets to be inspected. They did not know the exact reason for the new regulation. The federation thought the position should he investigated and the fact ascertained whether there were regulations or not. Stripping half of the brickwork one year and the other half the next was considered too much an expense and not necessary. If the investigation proved that such was necessary the protest would he supported. , Mr D. S. Winch addressed the meeting on the' operations of the whey waste and sugar of milk factory at Eldendale.
