TOKAORA BRANCH MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Tokaora braaidh of the W.D.F.U. « held cxp Friday last, when Mrs S. Thrush pi sided over a good attendance. P ogies for- absence were received from Mesdames Johnson and H. men. A motion of condolence with Mi and Mrs V. H. Adlani in the loss of then daughter was carried in silence Sympathy was ai-soi expressed with Mrs Finlay in her recent illness. I Mesdames Thrush, Tosland and Peacock were appointed delegates to the , provincial executive. , . It was decided to withdraw entries from the South Ta-ranald Winter Show. AUROA BRANCH ASSEMBLY
There was a very large attendance :»t the monthly meeting of the Auroa branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Benton presided and demonstrated heel-less sock® with directions for making. Mrs Lyndon demonstrated a quilt filled with wool and Mr® W. B. Brown demonstrated grafting in knitting. A number of recipe books, papers and plants were distributed. In preparation for the next meeting arrangements were made for a demonstration in seagraiss work and for a competition in cheese dishes, in support of the “Use- More Cheese” campaign. An invitation was received from the Toko branch of the division to its birthday party. The president and Mesdames King and West were elected delegates to the executive meeting in Hiawera. It was decided to write a letter of thanks to Mr Ord for having kindly ma.de a, box in which to store the primus stove, and also a letter of sympathy to Mrs West in her bereavement. Interesting discussions were held on the British Drama League and on the forthcoming visit of Miss Violet MacMillan to give lectures on home science.
Mrs King supervised- afternoon tea'. After the meeting the president and Mrs King left for New Plymouth to demonstrate wool spinning and weaving in the W.D.F.U. court at the New Plymouth winter .show.
