MOTOR TOURING.
LARGE INCREASE. CARS FROM ALL PARTS. A remarkable feature of the tourist traffic this year in Hawera and district lias, been the great range of district registrations which have been seen on cars coming through on holiday bent. These have included a few cars, from as far south as Invercargill, and many from practically every centre up to Auckland. The influence of the work of the Chamber of Commerce and the Automobile Association in having direction posts erected and specially in their efforts to bring traffic through the town have had a marked effect. This can but be for good of the town and district. The province is bound to benefit materially by this influx of cars from abroad. Tt may be worth mention that the postmaster has received a copy of the Motor Vehicles Act, with full’instructions re registration and license, and to remind car owners that both must be effected before April 1. Registration must be done, before February 1, and the annual license fee of £2 paid by March, this latter carrying him to 31st March. 192 G. and afterwards being an annually recurring charge. The postmaster expects a busy time, seeing that he will have to deal with about 3000 vehicles.
