MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING.

HAWERA CLUB’S SEASON. The 1924 season of the Hawera Miniature Rifle Club concluded last Tuesday night, when all trophy matches and shoot-offs were decided. It has been a most successful year from every point of view, a large number of trophies being donated, the competitions being very keen and the shooting being of a higher standard than in previous years. The men’s championship was won by Mr C. March ‘with the splendid score of 297

out of a possible 300, Mr A. Elgar, a new member, who promises to be a champion, being runner-up with 294, and P. Peterson, 292, third. The ladies’ championship was won by Miss T. Ingram with the magnificent score of 298 out of a possible 300, which stands as the record shoot of the club to date. Miss (Goodwin, the runner-up, also shot remarkably well with a score of 294. The teams’ match was again won by the Rovers, under the capable guidance of Captain W. McCormack, their total score being 1728 out of a possible 1800, establishing a new record for teams’ matches. The Excelsiors (Captain P. Peterson), who met witli hard luck throughout the competition, were second with 1718. The various trophy matches proved very interesting and exciting, shoot-offs being necessary in the majority of matches.
