Mr Harry Price., formerly of Wellington, has disposed of his interest in Warner’s Hotel, Christchurch, and leaves early next year for England. Mr Edward Craston, Mus.Bac., of Durham University, England, has been appointed co-examiner in music at the Auckland University College with Dr. W. E. Thomas, of Auckland. • A resident of Ohau, in the person of Miss Smith, passed away at the Palmerston North Hospital recently. The deceased lady had lived at Ohau for the past 20 years. Residents of the Ashhurst district will regret to learn of the death of Mr John Heath, which took place on Sunday evening at Wellington. Deceased had been resident in Ashhurst for about five years, and was a well-known business man. The death occurred last week at the Palmerston North Hospital of a resident of Weraroa,. Mr Daniel McKain. The deceased gentleman, who. was 73 years of age, had lived at Weraroa for some years past and was well-knc.wn and respected in that district. He eaves a wife and family to mourn their loss. Tfie new Governor-General ig expected to arrive at Wellington on or about December 11. His father, Sir James Fergusson, left New Zealand on November 27. 1874, very nearly fifty vea- s ago. The death occurred at Masterton recently of Mr 'Walter Tomlin, a resident of that town for many years. Deceased, who was 38 years of age, was kicked by a horse in February last, and was severely injured. He was admitted to the Matsertoai Hospital, and was an inmate there until he died. His father and mother and a sister reside in Wanganui, one brother at Mangamahoe, and another at Palmerston North. The death occurred yesterday of Miss Maria Rossiter, a. very old resident of New Plymouth. Miss Rossiter was a daughter of the late Mr. James Rossiter, and for some years before the Maori wars lived with her parents on the lower Mangorei Road. - Fo r the last 60 years she had resided on Belt Road.—Herald. Archbishop Juliu.s is now 77 years of age, and he has spent 34 years in Christchurch. He was born in Richmond, Surrey, in 1847, educated in Blackheath Proprietary School, at King’s College, London, and at Worcester College, Oxford, graduated B.A in 1869, and M.A. in 1871. He was accorded the degree of D.D. in 189 S. He was ordained deacon in 1871 and priest in the following year. Subsequently he was vicar of Shapwick. and Archdeacon of Ballarat. From there h e came to New Zealand, and was consecrated Bishop of Christchurch on May 1, 1896.
