TARANAKI-AUCKLAND LINE.
DISAPPOINTMENT EXPRESSED. with the Public norks Statement, insofar as the completion (or non-completion) of the gap in the Taranaki-Auckland main trunk railway between Tahora and Ohura is concerned, is expressed in a series of telegrams dispatched yesterday on behalf of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce by the president, Mr Gordon Fraser (the Herald reports'). The telegrams are:
To the Premier: “In view of reply to recent deputation chamber surprised and disappointed that Public iv orks Statements does not indicate policy to be pursued bv Government in completing Taranaki-Auckland railway.” To the Minister of Public Works (the Hou. J. G. Coates): “Chamber expressed distinct disappointment at absence from Public Works Statement of any suggestion that the'closes °/ the 34-mile gap in TaranakiAuckland railway is considered by Government to be of any urgenev.” To Mr S. G. Smith, M.P.: “Tara-naki-Auckland railway. Chamber extiemely disappointed no reference Public Works Statement of .any defined policy completion.”
