OPENING OF SEASON AT OPUNAKE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The opening of the Qpunake courts was celebrated on Labour Day. There was a large attendance of visitors, and from 10.30 a.m. play was in progress. A Yankee tournament was held, for which there were 30 entries, and was won by Mrs F. M. Corkill and Mr S. Morrison. The club’s president, Mr If. Julian, in a happy speech extended a cordial welcome to the visitors, and expressed the hope that the excellent condition of the courts, combined with the ideal weather conditions, would result in all present enjoying the day’s play. He then formally declared the courts open. Morning and afternoon tea was supplied by the members of the club, and everyone pi-esent voted the dav a most eniovable one.
