HOUSE GUTTED. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATIONDAEGAVILLE, Oct. 28. A fire at 11.30 last night totally destroyed a 5-i‘oomed house occupied by L. Powell, jun., who also owned' the furniture. The house was insured for £750 and the furniture for £l2O in the Australian Alliance Office.
MAORI INJURED,
ROTORUA, Oct. 28. A Maori named Robert Jacobs, while riding a bicycle in Tutanekai street this afternoon, was run over by a car owned and driven by A. J. Isdale. The injured man was sent to hospital. He had six ribs broken, severe contusions of the legs, and is suffering from shock, his condition being serious.
WOMAN’S TRAGIC END. \ WANGANUI. Oct. 28
Agnes Frances Benefield, aged 41, wife of Percy Benefield, of Aramoho, was found dead in a room this afternoon. A gas tube connected with a gas burner, which was turned on, was found near the body. Deceased was apparently in her usual health in the morning.
