The coalition between the Democratic Party and Senator La Follette’s forces, particularly in the Western States, with the evident purpose of forcing the election of a President into Congress, is the charge made here by Mr- William Butler, chairman of the Republican National Committee. The logical outcome if the election be thrown into Congress, Mr Butler declares, will be the election of a President by the Senate, and for this reason he considers that Mr Charles Bryan, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, is perhaps the most important opponent of President Coolidge. Neverlieless, the chairman predicts a decisive election on the Republican ticket.
