A FLASH OF FIRE.
BIRDS CAUSE. SHORT-CIRCUIT.
A huge, flafeh which caused a temporary breakdown in the. electric supuly of a eaoj©. company at Slough recently was caused by birds. After the short-cir-cuit had happened the engineers discovered twigs and blades of grass lying about near the electric terminals. A search made through the building showed that, birds had built their nests in the timber roof, and had actually interlaced the grass and twigs with odd bits of copper wire, about 6 in long, Which, they had picked up from a scrap heap in, the works. One of these- copper wires had dropped from a nest and fallen across the electric supoly terminals, so causing jthe tremendous flash due to short-circuiting the current.
