HAWERA OPERATIC SOCIETY.
“OUR, MISS GIBBS.” Imagine being saddled, quite wrongly of course, with the ownership of a burglar’s kit of tools- and being found in possession of a gold cup concerning the theft of which the whole country is ringing! It would be a nasty situation to sidestep! As the whole story belongs to “Our Miss Gibbs” its unfolding is best left to Wednesday evening in the Opera House, when the Hawera Operatic Society will present this deservedly popular musical comedy. The society confidently expects a record season, and, judging by the present booking, it has every reason lor this anticipation. It is hardly necessary to stress the. merits of the comedy, fo r “Our Miss Gibbs” is a recognised classic of its kind, having unusually comedy qualifications and a real distinction from the musical aspect. Besides the strength of the piece and the fact that it“ fulfils all the modern requirements in musical comedy, the society has handed together an especially capable and experienced east of principals find a fine c-horns. The final touches are being given in rehearsals, and if these re-. hen.rsa.ls are a reliable indication, the society has never been in a- happier position with its enterprises. A feature of the piece will be the frooking, the dresses of the mannequins being kindly lent by Outred’s. The box plan is now open at Everybody’s Sweet Store, and the public are strong!v advised to hook their seats immediately to save disappointment.
