WOOLLEN MILLS.

OPENED AT WANGANUI

WANGANUI, Sept. 12. The, Wanganui woollen mills were officially opened to-day by Lord Jcllicoe. The mills are regarded as the most up-to-date in the Dominion, all the machinery being of the latest design. The manager, the engineer, and the heads of departments, as veil as many of the operatives, have been brought out from Scotland. The wlic.le of the capital of £200,000 was raised in the Wanganui district, but only 10s in the pound has been called rp. The mills have been working in a small way fo,r some w’eelis in order to ensure that everv thing was in order, and a. number of local people are: wearing suits made of cloth woven at the mills. Among these is the Mayor, who wore a suit at the opening ceremony to-day.
