PATEA MEAT WORKS.
THE NEW COMPANY
AN IMPORTANT PROPOSAL
The value of the continuance of the service to the district given by the Patea Freezing Works has been stressed time and again, and is acknowledged by everyone in country and in town. It is shown by the good support being accorded the promoters of the new company, and therefore it is hardly necessary to remind the residents of the .whole of South Taranaki that it is a project which they should do all in their power to foster and develop. To farmers, dairy as well as sheep, men, the advantages must be obvious. Were there no works at Patea the price for cull stock would be reduced several pounds a head. Dairy farmers have acknowledged that any money they put into the old company they have more than recovered by the increased price received; for stock. The same applies to sheep and lambs. One point, too, that can hardly be emphasised too firmly is the question of fat lambs. If works are not easily accessible to receive them when just right for freezing the loss is very great, and this risk is obviated by having such good and efficient works so handy as are those at Patea. These are good and sufficient reasons for once more urging South Taranaki solidly to support the scheme of reconstruction as outlined in the prospectus on .page •h the Farm and Dairy page, of the Star to-day. The subscribed capital will be quite apart from the old company, and will in no way be liable, for the debts of that company. The scheme is solely to provide a working fund for purchasing stock. It can therefore with the utmost confidence be recommended to the people of country as well as of town.
