HAWERA CLUB

The match against the Grey town Miniature Rifle Club was poistponed owing to< the targets not anriviup* in time. However, the targets are “now. Here, and unless advertised otherwise, tne match will be fired on Wednesday night. The following team has been chosen to represent Hawera:—Ladies • ™ s T; Ingram, Airs Rae, Airs Smith. Mrs McCormack, and Miss P;reston: emergencies, Mrs Hawkins and Airs Collier. Gentlemen: A. Wilson, C. Murch, P. Petersen, J. Petersen and A. Fla ar; emergencies, E. Thurston, H. Collier.

Daring the week the holders of .the buttons were challenged, but were- successful in retaining the buttons. Scores were as follows : —Holders: Fi. Thursat' Fetersen, 50, Airs Hawkins 48, Aliss Ingram 47'; total, 189. Challengers: A. Wilson 50, G. H. Tozer 43, Mrs Rae 46, Aliss Preston 45; total, 184.

The first round of Rae’s trophy, which is a ten shot sealed handicap match, will be completed this Thursday- , The handicaps for the first round will then be announced.

In the Catran trophy, the first round ol winch was completed last week, the surprising feature is that although it was a handicap shoot, of the six remaining in it thre'c scored possibles and two scored 49, not taking their handicaps into consideration. This is really e 3 shooting. This competition will be. completed this week, and with the scores so- close it is hard to say who will be the successful competitor. Another feature of this competition is that quite a number of the good shots failed vo, qualify for the final, while one; or two of the medium shots nut on very good scores. Those remaining for the shoot-off are: —Airs Hawkins 50, handicap 1, 50: Airs Rae 49—2 —SO; Miss Ingram 49—3—50; Airs Smith 50 —3 —50: Aliss Lyall 47—3 —50; Aliss Goodwin 50 —2 —50. The re-handicaps for the final will be posted up on the board’s range. The final scores for Blake’s trophy for this veer’s members are-ft. Hall “0 Cl); R. L. Ingham 50 (2); E. Lacev 49 (3). The nositiens of teams at the end of the (bird round of the teams chainnionship will he shown at the end of the week. The same apulies- to the second round of the club championshin and the first round c,f Rae’s trophy.
