DEFENCE POLICY.
AVTATION BASE AT AUCKLAND,
.(BY TELEGRAPH- —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 7. An aviation base as part of the Do■lninioii’s future defence policy is to be .established at Auckland. The Prime Minister states that the Government has decided to purchase the aviation' plant of Messrs Walsh Bros, at Kohimarama and place it at the disposal of the Defence Department as an auxiliary branch of coastal defence. .. The plant will be taken over at valuation, the cost probably being about £12,000. Mr Massey states that it is the intention of the Government to go on with the development of an aviation base, at Auckland, and for this purpose additional aircraft and plant will be obtained.
