A message from Signor Mussolini, conveyed to the Government through the Italian Embassy, said: “Following the news of the rescue of Locatelli and his companions, thanks to the efforts of the American navy, I expressed to the American ambassador at Rome the gratitude of the Government for that most noble proof of human solidarity and comradeship performed by the American forces.’
