BOLSHEVISM

SCATHING LY DENOUNCED. ENEMY OF SOCIALISM AND EDUCATION. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Aug. 5, 11.25 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 4. The Russian deelgate Baihaloff, addressing the Social Democratic Federation gathering at Manchester, scathingly exposed the results of Bolshevism. He declared that- fifty-five per cent, of the workers were unemployed, wages were low. and the- cost of living was high. Another famine was threatened, and the housing and sanitary conditions were horrible. Education was decreasing. The works of Tolstoi and other great writers were banned, and only the communists’ literature was allowed in the libraries. The Soviet was trampling underfoot the principles of socialism and democracy, and was bitterly persecuting the Socialists, of whom 50,000 were imprisoned and 200,000 exiled, while an enormous number of executions were carried out on charges of espionage. These were chiefly intellectuals, business men and workers. —Sydney Sun Cable.
