A LITTLE GRACE.

HOURS FOR SHOP ASSISTANTS. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. At the Arbitration Court to-day an application was made on behalf of the Employers’ Association to amend the Dominion shop assistants award so as to insure a. provision in section five of the Shops and Oliic-es Act that fifteen minutes shall be allowed after closing hour, as provided for in the award, for the purpose of completing any work prior to the hour of ceasing work. The application was strenuously opposed by the Simp Assistants’ Federation, who pointed out that the assistants could be worked up to six o’clock, provided overtime was paid. The court reserved its decision.
