MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
MANAIA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held at Manaia yesterday before Mr A. M. Mowlem, S.M. The following cases were dealt with : Judgment by default, with costs, was given in the case F. A. Cooper v. S. Peters, claim £6 4s 4d. In the judgment summons cases H. J Eaves v. H. Mills, claim £l6 Is 6d, defendant was ordered to pay same within 14 days, in default 16 days’ imprisonment. H. J. Eaves v. TT. Lockley, claim £l6 6s Bd. Defendant was ordered to pay the amount forthwith, in default 16 days’ imprisonwarrant to be suspended if debtor pays £lO on or before September 1, 1924, and the balance on or before October 1, 1924. J. Adamson, for having an unregistered gun, was convicted and fined 20s and 7s costs. Rangihuna Pere, for driving a horse and cart after dark without .lights, " as t fined 10s and 17»s costs. a.vndam, for driving a motor, •ar through Manaia at an excessive speed (over 20 miles an hour) was fined £2 and 7s costs.
