LOST RAILWAY TRAFFIC. DEPARTMENT TO ACT. (By Telegraph.—Special to Star.) WELLINGTON. July 31. With, a view to meeting motor conrjietition, the Railway Department is instituting a commercial branch on the transportation side, the object being to regain lost traffic and-, induce, an additional business 'connection for- sales, shows and sporting events. Mr D. Rodie, district traffic manager at Invercargill, is being transferred to Wellington to take charge of the new branch, and will have associated with him officers specially suitable to this class of work. Mr W. O. Ennis, assistant district traffic manager (Christchurch) replaces Mr Rodie at Jnvercargiii.
